DS Audio Story No.01 — “Why did we start developing the optical cartridge?”
We have published the first chapter of “DS Audio Story,” written by our founder Tetsuaki Aoyagi in his own words, about how DS Audio began.
This is not a polished company history. The day a Toshiba cartridge was opened under a microscope. The first prototype, soldered onto an off-the-shelf headshell. An equalizer built in a wooden box. The faint sound that could only just be heard with the amplifier turned all the way up. The photographs and footage were shot on a phone at the time, and we have used them exactly as they are. The soft focus and the shaky footage are the workbench of those days, unretouched.
From a single record, through the years that continued on the thought “if it reaches ten people, that is enough,” to our first product, the DS-001, in 2013. It is a side of DS Audio that today’s products do not show.
