DS Audio has released a short film titled “Let’s go back to analog.”

We cannot put digital down. It is there before sleep, on the train, throughout the working day. That is simply the condition of modern life, and there is little use in resenting it.

But precisely because of that.

At the end of the day, the screen is placed face down on the table. Beans are ground. Water is left to boil. A record is drawn from its inner sleeve and held by the edges. It is set on the platter, and the stylus is lowered.

Those few minutes have come to matter far more than they once did.

It is because we are surrounded that the time away stands out. It is because everything else is efficient that a deliberate sequence of steps becomes a luxury. Analog is not a lost past. It is the pause our present days require.
